Be an Emergency Communications Manager for a multi agency, multi jurisdiction communications center. As a Communications Manager for the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, you will be responsible for the overall operations of the communications center, including administrative tasks and budgeting. You will be the liaison with many groups to include the citizens and visitors of Teton County, Jackson Police Department, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, Teton County Search and Rescue, Grand Teton National Park, and other local, state, and federal agencies.
Our center consists of four stations with sixteen budgeted positions which include the Communications Manager, Supervisors and Master Dispatchers. You will work with and maintain the Zuercher Cad system, Intrado, Motorola, Verint, GIS, WYCats, Web EOC, MIR3, Wyolink and be certified in ICS. You will be the project manager for any new systems and equipment by coordinating support contracts and requests for proposal (RFP). Contracts may include but are not limited to those for services, equipment support/maintenance, mutual aid, FCC operations including cooperative frequency use, membership agreements, and memorandums of understanding.
You will be responsible for ongoing development of staff, and maintain a quality assurance program within the communications center. You may assume all duties of an emergency telecommunicator during busy call periods, absences and/or in emergency situations.
The starting salary range for the Communications Manager position is $70,818. Salary for lateral (experienced) applicants will be determined after experience and qualifications are examined and verified. Benefits include health and dental insurance, Wyoming law enforcement retirement and life insurance as well as vacation, holiday, sick and comp time. Employees get use of the recreation center and the town/county exercise facility and access to bus and ski pass reductions. The position is mainly weekday shifts, but would require some night and weekend work. Successful applicants are asked to sign a two (2) year commitment.

- High school diploma or GED and four years emergency telecommunicator experience, which includes two years supervisory duties; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Public Safety Communications Basic or equivalent
- Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification
- National Crime Information Center Full-User Level access
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Show proof of a valid driver’s license
- Pass a thorough background investigation as well as a polygraph, psychological evaluation and a medical examination
