Community Service by Inmates

In an effort to keep the detention center overcrowding under control, the Teton County Sheriff has authorized the use of inmate workers for certain details outside of the detention center. In return the inmates receive extra good time, which allows them to shorten their sentence and return to the community sooner. After a careful review, those that are approved to become an inmate worker may begin their service to the community.

Examples of outside of facility work details are:

Road side trash cleanup
Cleaning up the Town Square for the annual spring Easter egg hunt
Helping the parks and recreation department with park maintenance
Cleaning up the trash at rodeo grounds after a winter of storing snow
